OM OR/ELLER 


OR/ELLER är en vi-formation, bestående av två röster, som opererar innanför ett konstruerat subjekt. Namnet OR/ELLER är en påminnelse om dansens inneboende tvetydighet och en fingervisning om att deras konstnärskap pekar i flera olika riktningar samtidigt. Sedan 2018 driver Anja Arnquist och Madeleine Lindh OR/ELLER, med en konsekvent linje av att insistera på att ha ett ben i rummet för scenkonst för barn och unga och ett ben i rummet för scenkonst för vuxenpubliken.

OR/ELLER arbetar med förtecken av optimism, femininitet och ett aldrig sinande intresse för hantverket av att dansa. Ur ett långvarigt forskande i rörelse, låter de en specifik och multiartikulerad fysikalitet driva sin språklighet och sitt estetiska tilltal. I undersökningen av vad rörelsen förmår förmedla bygger de sina koncept, där koreografi och scenografi ofta växer fram, som sammanvävda spår.

OR/ELLER har hittills samarbetat med, och presenterat sina föreställningar på scener som, Dansens Hus i Stockholm, Dansinitiativet, Stadsteatern Skärholmen, på turné med Norrdans, Dalateatern, Sara Kulturhus, MDT Moderna Dansteatern, NorrlandsOperan, Dansehallerne/KORA (DK) och via plattformar som Swedstage, Cinars (CA), Dansnät Sverige och Dansmässan. Sedan 2019 har OR/ELLER återkommande visat sina föreställningar för barn och unga i Stockholm via DANSiSTAN/CIRKUSiSTANs program.


Från och med i mars 2025 är Anja Arnquist tjänstledig från OR/ELLER för att träda in i rollen som konstnärlig ledare för dans på NorrlandsOperan i Umeå.

För arbetet med föreställningen Yonder, som OR/ELLER koreograferar för Riksteatern och Scenkonst Sörmland, är Anja Arnquist tillbaka i tjänst.

ABOUT OR/ELLER 

OR/ELLER is a we-formation, consisting of two voices, operating within a constructed subject. The name OR/ELLER is a reminder of the inherent ambiguity of dance and a hint towards their artistry pointing in several different directions concurrently. Since 2018, Anja Arnquist and Madeleine Lindh are running OR/ELLER, consistently insisting on keeping one foot in the room for performing arts for children and young people, and one foot in the room for performing arts for an adult audience.

OR/ELLER works with a signature of optimism, femininity and an unceasing interest in the craft of dancing. Through their long term movement-research, they allow a specific and multi-articulated physicality to fuel their linguistics and their aesthetic approach. In the exploration of what movement is able to convey, they construct their concepts, where choreography and scenography often emerge as interwoven traces. 

OR/ELLER has so far collaborated with and presented their performances at venues such as Dansens Hus in Stockholm, Dansinitiativet, Stadsteatern Skärholmen, on tour with Norrdans, Dalateatern, Sara Kulturhus, MDT Moderna Dansteatern, NorrlandsOperan, Dansehallerne/KORA (DK), and through platforms such as Swedstage, Cinars (CA), Dansnät Sverige, and Dansmässan. Since 2019, OR/ELLER has repeatedly presented its performances for children and young people in Stockholm through the DANSiSTAN/CIRKUSiSTAN program.


Starting in March 2025, Anja Arnquist will be on leave from OR/ELLER to take on the role of Artistic Director for Dance at NorrlandsOperan in Umeå. 

For the work on the production Yonder, which OR/ELLER is choreographing for Riksteatern and Scenkonst Sörmland, Anja Arnquist will return to her duties.

YonderKalla oss Dreamers, kalla mig Rebell! Detta är vårt Yonder!

Yonder är en dansföreställning i coming of age-format. Mitt emellan det allmängiltiga och “jag får rys i hela kroppen”-känslan väntar sex dansare på livet, samtidigt som de lever det intensivt. Det som händer är inget, och allt på samma gång. Koreografin uppstår ur en detaljerad fysikalitet där dansen drivs av ett spatialt relationellt och explosivt rörelsematerial som bubblar, skär igenom och penetrerar rummet. Som ett tonårsvrål.

Föreställningen får ett eget soundtrack, baserat på texter och melodier som har skapats i dialog med konceptet Coming of Age. Toussaint ”Tusse” Chiza har, i samarbete med kompositören Matilda Bådagård, skrivit en samling låtar, som kompositören Sophia Ersson sedan har använt som avstamp, när hon låtit Yonders egna soundtrack växa fram ur en tät dialog med koreografin. Yonder är en samproduktion mellan Riksteatern och Scenkonst Sörmland.

YonderCall us Dreamers, call me a Rebel! This is our Yonder!

Yonder is a dance performance in a coming of age format. In the middle of the ordinary and the “I get shivers all over my body” feeling, six dancers are waiting for life to begin, yet they live it, intensely. What happens is nothing, and everything at the same time. The choreography arises from a detailed physicality where the dance is driven by a spatially relational and explosive movement material that bubbles, cuts through and penetrates the space. Like a teenage roar.

The performance has its own soundtrack, based on lyrics and melodies created in dialogue with the Coming of Age concept. Toussaint “Tusse” Chiza, in collaboration with composer Matilda Bådagård, has written a collection of songs, which composer Sophia Ersson has then used as a starting point, when she let Yonder’s own soundtrack grow out of a close dialogue with the choreography.

DOLLYI Dolly skruvar OR/ELLER på vad det betyder att komma till liv. Genom ett ihärdigt dansande utforskas olika ögonblick av tillblivelse genom linsen av tre ikoniska figurer – fåret Dolly, Dolly Parton, och dockan. Var och en av dessa Dollys speglar var sin fasett av att skapa och att skapas: klonen, konstnären och det imaginära.

Med inspiration från den outgrundliga och mystiska tiden mellan det första hjärtslaget och det första andetaget, blåser OR/ELLER liv i Dolly genom dessa livets dubbla startpunkter. Dolly sätter föreställningar om originalitet, subjektivitet och transformation på display i ett rum som aningslöst vevas igång mot ett definitivt slut.

Dolly är inte en föreställning för barn och det är heller inte en föreställning för vuxna. Dolly är en dansföreställning för människor mellan 10 - 99 år, som bjuder in till reflektion över konsten att komma till liv och hur konsten själv föds till liv.

DOLLYIn Dolly, OR/ELLER reimagines what it means to come to life. Through unceasing dance, different moments of becoming are explored via three iconic figures: Dolly the sheep, Dolly Parton, and the doll. Each of these Dollys reflects a different aspect of creation and existence—the clone, the artist, and the imaginary.


Inspired by the mysterious space between the first heartbeat and the first breath, OR/ELLER brings Dolly to life through these dual origins of life. The performance examines notions of originality, subjectivity, and transformation, set in a room that unwittingly winds toward an inevitable end.


Dolly is neither a performance specifically for children nor exclusively for adults; instead, it is a dance piece for audiences aged 10 to 99, inviting all to contemplate the art of coming to life—and how art itself comes to life.
